Torres: how much do you know about Spanish wine?

So how much do you know about Spanish wine🇪🇸? The thing is, people often stick to one kind of wine or one brand that they have tried and liked. Not many dare to explore and try other things out there🍷. Torres Wineries (Bodegas Torres in Spanish) is a good option to discover Spanish wines as the company embodies around 10 denominations of origin.

Torres is one of the largest Spanish wine producers present in more than 100 countries🌍.
The winery is located in Pacs del Penedès and boasts picturesque surroundings.

Torres offers a wide range of wine possibilities: Tempranillo or Spanish indigenous Graciano from Rioja (Altos Ibéricos)🇪🇸, a velvety Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero (Celeste)✨, creamy Chardonnays from Conca de Barberà (Milmanda and Sons de Prades)🥐, mystical Purgatori from a property built by the monks in Costers del Segre (Grenache, Cariñena and Syrah)🍷, refreshing Albariño from Rías Baixas (Pazo das Bruxas)🌊, classic Verdejo from Rueda (Camino de Magarín and Verdeo)🍏, typical Priorat mixes (Salmos and Perpetual) 🍇 or sparkling Vardon Kennett🥂.

When it comes to the Penedès region, Torres takes it to the next level by not limiting itself with only Catalan indigenous varieties like Parellada or classical Frenchies like Cabernet Sauvignon or Sauvignon Blanc. Torres even gave Riesling (‼️) a try. Riesling in Spain, just imagine it 🤔.

Despite being a family run company, Torres has an international mindset which led them to countries such as Chile (Miguel Torres) 🇨🇱 and the US 🇺🇸 (Marimar Estate), and more recently, to China and Sweden.

There is a Torres wine for nearly any occasion, and here are some wines I picked (Obviously DO Penedès as well as some classics) to make autumn’s beginning better:

  • Viña Esmeralda, DO Catalunya: it comes in two versions, white&rosé. Viña Esmeralda is probably the definition of summer in Penedès and Barcelona, you just can’t imagine this time of the year without this wine. Viña Esmeralda became a summer classic long ago and it doesn’t plan on giving in.

🍇 Moscatel and Gewürztraminer. Floral on the nose, exotic fruits and honey on the palate.
🍇Grenache. Lemon marmalade and red berries hints on the nose, rose liqueur and a bit of redcurrant on the palate.
  • Atrium, DO Penedès: Chardonnay and Merlot. Both wines have undergone a label change and from now on you can buy the new “restyled” Atrium.

🍇Merlot. Intense red fruits aroma, red berries and blueberries on the palate with notes of plump. I would give this 2015 vintage another year in your wine drawer😛

Make sure you enjoy this selection and tell me about your favourite Torres wines 😋
